Video: Soft Metals, ‘Lenses’

Portland expatriates Soft Metals can induce the most colorful of trances. The L.A.-based duo of Patricia Hall and Ian Hicks raised their game with the July release of “Lenses,” their second full-length for Captured Tracks. It’s an album of futuristic sad disco, slick and layered in complexities but not so machine-made that it loses its sense of body. The video for the title track was made at the new downtown club the Lash and was a collaboration with Eva Aguila and Brock Fansler of Experimental Half-Hour, 3D projection mapper Akiko Yamashita of Mapjacks, fashion designer Nicolette Mishkan and cinematographer Dalton Blanco. Mysteriously yours.
