Indie-pop quartet Max and the Moon found last year that the fastest way to get out of their native Chino Hills was to make songs that you can’t get out of your head. Which they did, with their single “Out of My Head,” and the rest of their debut EP “The Way I See.” The upside to “All I Know” – the newest single from the foursome of John Velasquez, Zachariah Weaver and Matt and Dillon Couchois – is that it’s instantly hummable, likable in the same way a lot of ’70s and ’80s radio hits were. (The downside is that they succumb to the omnipresent “whoa-oh” chorus that should have gone out with MySpace.) Max and the Moon’s upbeat melodic sense is shared by a lot of current indie favorites, who’ve become decidedly less indie as major labels have scooped them up. Maybe somebody else can shoot for the moon too. “All I Know” will be out as a 7-inch single soon, ostensibly in time for Max and the Moon’s October residency.
