Video premiere: Charlie Clark, ‘Feel Something’

Transplanted Scotsman Charlie Clark has embraced his new life in Los Angeles – and accordingly, there’s an earnest, hopeful tint to his first solo EP “Feel Something.” Produced by and featuring contributions from Eric McCann (the ex-New Amsterdams bassist who now plays in A House for Lions), “Feel Something” embodies the collaborative spirit Clark witnessed 10 years ago in his homeland when, after the demise of his band Astrid, he played in Scottish supergroup the Reindeer Section (with members of Snow Patrol, Belle & Sebastian, Arab Strap and others). Here, Clark recruits the talents of Brandi Emma, Isobel Campbell, Yohei Shikano (My Hawaii), Kaitlin Wolfberg (Fort King) and Joe Luisi (A House For Lions). And as he did in March with the first video from his EP, Clark teams up with director Paul Orehovec (and Emma, in a co-starring role) for the video for the sublimely pretty title track. “Feel Something” is out July 23 on Edwyn Collins’ AED Records; the Orange Juice main man produced Astrid’s debut in 1999. Five songs with a heart of gold.
