Based out of Los Angeles, the quartet WALLA formed amid turbulent circumstances, yet soon recognized a chemistry during the early stages of their collaborative process. Due June 4, the band’s EP “Nature” is the result of the disparate tastes of members Ian Charlie, Alessio Balsemin, Mauricio Carcamo, Jonathan Hoonch Kim and Gabriel Nava Rodrigues – a mix of pop, funk, samba, rock, metal, folk, disco, and psychedelia. The EP’s first single “No Time” uses dreamy lyrics and a catchy hook to relay the uplifting energy that carried WALLA as the pressures mounted of surviving as a band during a bleak financial period. An easily enjoyable, modern pop track, “No Time” sounds like guitar-driven Depeche Mode with a dash of electronica, and the same danceablity as recent material from Cassian and Passion Pit.
