Anybody who witnessed the set by La Santa Cecilia at the Silver Lake Jubilee last May knew it was only a matter of time: The charismatic, Latin-fusion quartet of Marisoul, Alex Bendaña, Pepe Carlos and Miguel “Oso” Ramirez was destined for big things. With last week’s release of their major-label debut “Treinta Dias,” La Santa Cecilia’s time has arrived. The band’s multi-culti take on Latin, rock and world music, anchored by Marisoul’s soaring vocals, already has the album climbing the Latin music charts, and the band’s collaboration with Elvis Costello on the song “Losing Game” is extending their reach beyond. The single “Monedita,” the free iTunes single of the week (until tomorrow), is a good place to start.
