Gifted remixers who’ve aroused expectations on the strength of collaborations with Mayer Hawthorne, Major Lazer, Phoenix and Passion Pit, among others, Los Angeles duo Classixx aim to further impress with their first collection of original material “Hanging Gardens” (due May 14 on Innovative Leisure). Generously making their remixed brilliance available for DJs looking to infuse their sets with something conspicuously West Coast, Michael David and Tyler Blake never manipulate things beyond recognition, but accent and highlight until the track has reached its full potential, their work on  YACHT’s “Psychic City” being particularly impressive. Classixx’s tunes are sounds for the relaxed glamor of Southern California, embodying the buoyant essence of Goldroom’s “Pacific Touch,” as well as the sunny “Daytime Disco” proliferated by local peers Poolside. “Holding On” is a breezy dance track with a classic disco feel, similar to recent material from local dance producer Plastic Plates. Classixx’s “Holding On” remix EP features versions from fellow Angeleno Jerome LOL and German producer Losoul. And the duo’s collaborative spirit prevails on the forthcoming full-length – Active Child, Sarah Chernoff of Superhumanoids, Nancy Whang of LCD Soundsystem (who provides vocals on “All You’re Waiting For”), and, Lady Gaga songwriter Jeppe Laursen (of Junior Senior) on “I’ll Get You.”
