Talk about a star-studded lineup. If you haven’t heard of L.A.’s psychedelic outfit Thrillionaire yet, chances are you’ve heard the talents of their members on several other records. Fronted by Jen Turner (formerly of Here We Go Magic and guitarist for Natalie Merchant) and Henrietta Tiefenthaler on bass, programming and sound design, Thrillionaire also boasts producer Joey Waronker on drums and Bright Eyes member Nate Walcott on keys. But it doesn’t end there; their music also has the touches of both producer Marius de Vries and Steve Sidelynk of U.K.’s the Blow Monkeys in addition to Remy Zero’s Cedric LeMoyne. So with all this musical aptitude in just one band, how’s the music? Thrillionaire’s swirling vocals, droning beats and hypnotic bass lines come together as excellent ear candy for Krautrock fans (“Matter”) who also like their world spun through heavy kaleidoscopic psychedelia (“Wei Geht’s”). A full-length is in the works and slated for a release later this year. File next to your records you consider “far out.”
