As we found when he fronted the sorely missed quartet Foreign Born, Matt Popieluch has one of those voices that belongs in the jetstream. Or somewhere in the clouds, which is where you’ll find much of the solo material he makes as Big Search. The solo album from 2010, “Lay of the Land,” found Big Search searching for solid ground with woozy experiments in guitars and atmospherics. But his new single “Distant Shore” (out Feb. 12 as a 7-inch from Lefse Records) takes a more reined-in approach – it’s simply a beautifully undulating psych-pop song. Dream a little dream.
