Blackfeet Braves

You’ve seen those movies where some actor is lost and dehydrated in the desert only to hallucinate some outrageous scenario. “Vicious Cycle” by Blackfeet Braves sets a similar mood. With Tony Malcara’s raspy vocals, and additional ’60s-influenced psychedelic chops from Julian Ducatenzeiler, Shane Stotsenberg, Tomas Dolas and Cameron Gartung, the L.A. quintet has you go from hazy hysteria in the heat to crisp coolness in an oasis by the end of the track. It’s a journey other SoCal acts not too unlike the Growlers and the Allah-Las have taken you on before, but with “Vicious Cycle’s” slinky melodies and explosive climax, it’s easy to trip out all over again. Blackfeet Braves’ debut full-length is slated for a release this year on Lolipop Records.
