Ears Wide Open: Kêta

Keta

Considering the fact that Kêta is just 16 years old and has already grabbed an opening slot for three sold-out Sam Smith shows (with Tuesday night being her live debut), one might put the L.A. singer-songwriter down in the books as more than just another blip in the pop world. Her debut single “Wooden Horses” will no doubt dub her as an electro-folk artist, but her songwriting chops and smokey vocals will have her crossing over into the Billboard charts in no time. If pop songs with thoughtful melodies, intricate banjo and stomping percussion is your thing, then you’ll most likely be hitting the repeat button after the first listen. If it’s not, then you can move onto the bubblegum pop that is now being usurped by EDM production. File Kêta next to First Aid Kit, Little Green Cars and Mumford & Sons.
