We moped quite a bit in 2012 when Black Flamingo went quietly into the night – the band’s dreamier-than-thou 2011 EP “Luau in the Graveyard” juggled the sunny-but-dark aesthetic many West Coast shoegazers have tried since. The band’s members have scattered, most working on projects that are well worth your attention. But it turns out the sextet have left something to remember them by, and it’s good. The album “Winter Sun” was posthumously released last month. Produced, mixed and mastered by George Cochrane, the songs are the work of Christopher Vick, Amberlie Bankoff, Kimi Recor, Mareesa Stertz, Poul Johansen, and Alex Posell. Soaked in reverb and beautifully languorous, it’s kinda of perfect for dressing in all black and getting outdoors to work on that tan.
