First Monday of the final month of 2013:

Cat Power visits the El Rey Theatre on her solo tour, with Nico Turner supporting.
‣ British singer-songwriter Sam Smith does the first of two sold-out nights at the Troubadour.
VUM [pictured] launches its residency (and celebrated this week’s vinyl release of its album “Psychotropic Jukebox”) at the Echo, where the trio is joined by the Parallelograms, HOTT MT and Conway.
‣ Psych-pop time travelers Froth kick off their residency at the Bootleg Bar, supported by Jesus Sons, Adult Books and Dirt Dress.
‣ At the Satellite, the December residency is held down by folk quintet the Wild Reeds, with Leftover Cuties, the Dustbowl Revival and Willie Watson supporting on opening night.
‣ And at It’s a School Night at Bardot, electro duo Odesza (who are opening for Pretty Lights on Tuesday) visit from Seattle, performing on a bill with De Lux and Andy Clockwise.
