Sharon Van Etten has made a career out of wearing her heart on her sleeves. From 2009’s “Because I Was In Love” to last year’s beautiful “Are We There” (an album that made one of many year-end lists), Van Etten has sung from both sides of the relationship. But whether she was a victim or a victor, there is no doubt that her voice has grown stronger with each release. In her latest single “I Don’t Want to Let You Down,” Van Etten’s bold vocals head a rich guitar arrangement with driving percussion. It’s a song she’s been performing live for a few months but only recently released as an official single from an as-yet-unannounced EP due later this year.
