The bright, earnest indie-rock of My Double, My Brother falls into the lineage of bands such as the Little Ones, Local Natives, early Vampire Weekend and the Postelles — the rush of sharp guitars, clattering percussion and winsome vocals. The Long Beach quintet’s new single “I’ll Die” isn’t nearly as fatalistic as its title; the song will appear MDMB’s sophomore album “Shelves,” out Feb. 10. The fan-funded release follows 2011’s “We Found Beneath the Ground,” and it finds the quintet — singer-guitarist Joel Hasemeyer, guitarist Andy Leong, bassist Evan Eliason, keyboardist/horn player Beau Knechtel and drummer Matt Bushyeager — decamping with Orange County producer Jon O’Brien. Here’s a song for your morning rally.
