Stream: Ryan Hemsworth, ‘Snow in Newark’

Twenty-four-year-old Ryan Hemsworth – aka the Canadian Prince, aka Mr. Steal-Your-Wifi, aka the Bae Whisperer – last month released his new album “Alone for the First Time,” and after just one listen you’ll know it’s much different than your typical electronic music fare. While most DJs are concerned with you turning up in the club and getting your grind on, Hemsworth’s music is much more introspective – it’s better for nights at home with a glass of wine and some Netflix, or working on whatever creative outlet you prefer. The guest-heavy album, the quick follow-up to last fall’s “Guilt Trips,” has the same loner/outsider vibe that made the Postal Service engaging so many years ago. “Snow in Newark” is a standout track, a collaboration with Chicago producer/songwriter Dawn Golden, with intricate synth lines intertwined with jazzy percussion and Dexter Tortoriello’s silky vocals.
