‣ El-P and Killer Mike, dba Run the Jewels, who just unleashed their second album, headline the Echoplex (the show was moved to the bigger room from the Echo), with Mystery Skulls and Thurz supporting.
‣ Portland-based producer RAC (aka André Allen Anjos), whose debut album “Strangers” features guests turns from the likes of Tegan and Sara, Alex Ebert, Kele, Penguin Prison, Tokyo Police Club, St. Lucia, YACHT and more, headlines the Fonda Theatre, supported by NYC electro duo the Knocks and L.A.’s Grizfolk.
‣ Milwaukee folk outfit Field Report holds forth at the Satellite, with Tom Brosseau opening.
‣ German composer and keyboard adventurer Nils Frahm plays the El Rey Theatre.
‣ Old-school night at the House of Blues, with Misfits, the Dickies and Total Chaos.
‣ Soul man Jesse Boykins III visits the Bootleg HiFi behind his new album “Love Apparatus.”
‣ In the other room at the Bootleg, it’s the third week of the Stone Foxes’ residency, and they’re joined by the Janks, who are celebrating the release of their new EP, “Living in Denial.”
‣ And North Carolina country rockers Hiss Golden Messenger play the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery behind their new album “Lateness of Dancers.” Above, the video for “Mahogany Dread.”
