‣ Zola Jesus [pictured], whose new album “Taiga” came out this week, headlines the El Rey Theatre.
‣ Mark Kozelek’s Sun Kil Moon, recently in the news because of a feud with the War on Drugs [dissected here] instead, regrettably, of the new album “Benji,” plays the Fonda Theatre, supported by Carina Round.
‣ Party’s on at the Shrine Expo Hall, where Chromeo headlines a night that includes Mapei and Wave Racer.
‣ It’s a mellower deal at the the Cathedral Sanctuary at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, where Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice performs in advance of next month’s release of this third album “My Favorite Faded Fantasy.”
‣ The Weeknd, Schoolboy Q and Jhene Aiko hold forth the Hollywood Bowl.
‣ Robert Francis & the Night Tide visit the Bootleg HiFi behind the new album “Heaven,” with Saintseneca and Busman’s Holiday supporting.
‣ Psych-rock trio EFG rocks the Satellite, supported by the Burning of Rome and Figs Vision.
‣ And Mystery Skulls continue their residency at Dirty Laundry in Hollywood.
