When Alice Boman released “EPII,” a special bonus edition of her stunning EP “Skisser,” fans got to step further into the Swedish singer-songwriter’s mind. The intimacy Boman revealed in previous songs like “Waiting” is ratcheted up even further in new tunes such as “Be Mine” and “Over;” they become such personal experiences that listeners almost feel as if they’re trespassing. Boman once again demonstrates how fragility can be strength, and choosing to share her sentiments of heartbreak, desires and insecurities is a bold choice. Whether or not she finds it necessary for survival, the meticulousness of her catharsis yields gorgeous melodies and textures on record. Live, with a full band – as you can hear and see in the live performance of “Over” at Studio Möllan – pathos is heightened so much that inevitably heavy swooning happens on our end and even provides comfort. “EPII” is out now via the Control Group.
