Dustin Krapes, doing business as Habits, put out one of the better under-the-radar albums of the year back in March. Now he’s taking to studio alchemy, remixing songs from five of the artists playing this Saturday’s Desert Daze festival at Sunset Ranch Oasis near Mecca. Habits does a ghost-in-the-machine number on songs from Deap Vally, Fever the Ghost, Liphemra, Froth and Corners. It’s good for a desert hallucination or three.
Desert Daze boasts a formidable lineup of Blonde Redhead, the Raveonettes, Liars, Autolux and Unknown Mortal Orchestra, along with other SoCal luminaries like Kiev, Allah-Lahs, Cosmonauts, Nights Beats and, yes, Habits themselves. General admission tickets are $45.
Desert Daze should be posting their set times soon, I hope.
