Coachella 2014: The Toy Dolls, miscreant mayhem

Who: The Toy Dolls at the Gobi Tent
In 3 or Fewer Words: Moshing miscreant madhouse
Memorable Because: Booked against Calvin Harris and Little Dragon, there was nothing for the dancehall disinclined to do but check out the Toy Dolls, punk rock’s 30-year-old companion to Mad Magazine. (Imagine the Sex Pistols doing Flanders & Swann and you’ve about got it.) Frontman Michael “Olga” Algar led the Dolls through a menagerie of fan favorites – “Nellie the Elephant,” “Dougy Giro,” “Alec’s Gone,” about 20 others – in the purest punk show of the weekend. Was that the Coachella camera drone hovering overhead, or was the crypto-fascist government spying on Indio’s delinquent horde? Whoever the camera belonged to, it captured a hilarious, rollicking good time.
What I’d Tell My Friend Who Was At Calvin Harris: Is that the name of an artist, perfume, or underwear line? I’m unsure.
