Some videos make one feel as if they are bouncing with the beat, but the black-and-white clip accompanying Boy‘s song “Oh Boy,” makes you feel as if you are dancing with members Valeska Steiner and Sonja Glass. Sure, there are synchronized dance moves, but the off-kilter and nature-centric scenes that quickly flash across the scene have their own elegant syncopation. Finding inspiration from Mexican photographers Lola and Manuel Álvarez Bravo, director Rafael Palacio Illingworth has combined his quick cuts and Boy’s feel-good pop melodies to create a feeling similar to watching a contemporary dancer on stage. Boy’s debut “Mutual Friends” is out now via Nettwerk Music Group.
