Video: DA & the Jones, ‘Break My Heart’

As Daniel Ahearn & the Jones, Ahearn and Mindy Jones traded in the serenely beautiful acoustic folk characterized by generations of boy/girl duets. But shifting landscapes and creative urges moved the duo into new territory as they work on their full-length debut “Sirens” (due in 2014) with producer Mocky. Hence, the new “Electric Love” EP, released under the name DA & the Jones. The bouncy single, “Break My Heart,” was recently featured on “Pretty Little Liars,” and the video, directed by Mousa Kraish, toys with the idea of a fractured relationship and its temptations. “The song is about loss and heartache,” Ahearns says, “and [the fact that] so many women feel that if they looked a certain way or had a certain body everything would be fine and that is just straight bullsh*t.” Jones has been touring with Moby (the duo appears masked in the video for “A Case for Shame,” featuring Cold Specks) while Ahearn has been busy writing for “Sirens.”
