We’ve still got Sunday’s Coachella coverage coming your way. In the meantime, check out all the festival artists playing L.A. tonight:

Rodriguez, the star of Oscar-winning documentary “Searching for Sugar Man” plays a show at the Orpheum Theatre before he has to head back to Coachella for weekend 2. Giant Sand plays as support.
Foals also come through town to play a show at El Rey Theatre. The Neighbourhood, who also played the festival, opens. [That’s Foals’ video for “My Number” above.]
Franz Ferdinand and Palma Violets both swing by for what will be an impressive night of Brit-rock at the Fonda Theatre.
‣ Veterans Sparks get intimate at the Masonic Lodge over at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Who knows which genre they’ll pick.
Smith Westerns also leave the desert to come play for us at the Echo. OC-based band Hindu Pirates join in on the fun.
‣ Check Yo Ponytail revs it up downstairs with the Gaslamp Killer, Thundercat and Salva at the Echoplex.
James McCartney – yes, that’s Sir Paul’s son – headlines the Hotel Cafe before he heads back out to Indio again.  Alyssa Graham, the Jim Campilongo Trio and Micah Green also play.
Gary Clark Jr. returns to L.A. yet again to play to a sold-out crowd (again) at the Roxy Theatre.
‣ Your local residencies tonight? Black Apples continues at Harvard & Stone. DWNTWN and the Mercy Beat (that’s the new band fronted by the Bravery’s frontman Sam Endicott) have another go together at their co-residency down at the Central SAPC; Hustle Roses and Freedom Fry also round out the bill in Santa Monica.
‣ Your big shows in Pomona? Modest Mouse headlines the Fox Theater. The Make-Up who impressed at Coachella weekend 1 takes on the Glass House.
‣ Your Coachella-playing bands down in OC tonight? Poliça and Night Moves team up at the Observatory, with Aesop Rock, Rob Sonic and Busdriver all throwing it down in the Constellation Room
