Stream: Caught a Ghost, ‘Connected’

Caught a Ghost’s Motown-meets-machines magic first came on the radar in 2011 when ex-Red Arrow Messenger mastermind Jesse Nolan unveiled the twitchy yet soulful “Sleeping at Night.” Ensuing months found Nolan not sleeping much at all as he wrangled a band with as many as nine members and live shows that tried to make his band’s marriage of live instrumentation and electro wizardry a happy one. Caught a Ghost’s days of never having an “official” release ended last month, when “Connected” appeared on “Grey’s Anatomy” was issued as a single. Now comes news that Caught a Ghost will release it’s debut EP “Nightworks” on Feb. 12 via +1 Records (where soul heavies The Heavy got their start, by the way). Included in the three-song teaser is “Hold Out,” a horn-and-effects cocktail that suggests Stax trapped in a video game. Fans of both Fitz & the Tantrums and the Neighbourhood might find something to their liking here.
