Races celebrate the release of their debut album “Year of the Witch,” which just dropped this week on Frenchkiss Records, at the Echo. Living Things and Incan Abraham join the party.
‣ Ghostly International’s star and avant-pop artist Matthew Dear headlines tonight’s installment of First Fridays (a week earlier than usual) over at the Natural History Museum. Dear is currently on tour in support of his “Headcage” EP which highlights his producing and DJ skills with smooth crooning and dark electro. Sungodsuns also DJ.
Big Sir – the collaboration between singer Lisa Papineau and Juan Alderete of the Mars Volta – bring their ethereal melodies and 808 beats to the Bootleg. Different Fountains and Greenhorse open.
‣ Americana songwriter Todd Snider returns to L.A. with a full backing band for the first time in years at the El Rey Theater. Bill Carter supports.
‣ Pop-rockers The All American Rejects, who just released their new album “Kids in the Street,” headline a sold-out show the Troubadour.
‣ Local band C-horse wraps up their residency over at Casey’s downtown.
