Tonight in L.A.: Voxhaul Broadcast, NO, Monte Mar, the Janks, Robert Francis, Drake, Scars on 45, Typhoon, Rachel Yamagata, Chelsea Wolfe

A manic Monday, starting with four fine free residencies:

Voxhaul Broadcast, the release of their debut album and a follow-up EP in 2011’s rear-view mirror, roar into 2012 with some new songs and the Satellite residency. Opening night features support from Eastern Conference Champions, sibling duo Blondfire and the Little Richard tribute band Big Dick. Voxhaul will have some special guests joining them tonight, and Buzz Bands LA will be selecting tunes throughout the evening.
‣ Indie-rock quintet NO put themselves on the map last year with their EP “Don’t Worry, You’ll Be Here Forever” and frontman Bradley Hanan Carter told us in February there’s more where that came from. They have the Echo residency, supported tonight by Future Ghost, Tim Nordwind’s (OK Go) new collaboration with Drea Smith Pyyramids and Ivan and Alyosha.
Monte Mar builds on the momentum from its winning first EP “Wine and Camouflage” by taking on the residency at the Silverlake Lounge. Big Moves, LA Font and Paulie Pesh open.
The Janks’ residency at the Bootleg Bar will be something of a going-away party – with members moving on to other projects, they’re disbanding (with brothers Zachary and Dylan Zmed already announcing a new project ZMED). Tonight they are joined by the Alternates, Last American Buffalo and Nicole Vaughn on board for opening night.
‣ Drake’s “Club Paradise Tour” visits USC’s Galen Center.
‣ Big night at It’s a School Night at Bardot – Robert Francis, whose new album “Strangers in the First Place” is due May 22, headlines, with Madi Diaz and the Peach Kings also on board.
‣ And British quintet (and “Grey’s Anatomy” soundtrack darlings) Scars on 45, their self-titled debut due April 10, plays the Troubadour, supported by Y LUV and Moneybrother.
