‣ Stones Throw Records’ Dam-Funk brings his music diplomacy – he has, after all, earned the nickname “Ambassador of Boogie Funk” – to the El Rey Theatre, where he will team up with Master Blazter for an evening of sizzle. Above is the video for “It’s My Life,” which the duo recorded, without editing, direct to vinyl.
AWOLNATION brings the bombastic dance-rock on its debut album “Megalithic Symphony” to the Music Box, supported by Middle Class Rut and Twin Atlantic. Fans who bring canned goods to support the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank will get free downloads from AWOLNATION and Twin Atlantic, and other goodies.
Big Moves head up a good local lineup at the Silverlake Lounge, where the quintet is joined by In One Wind, Masxs and Gothic Tripic
‣ And there’s quite a lineup of songstresses at the Hotel Cafe: Singer-songwriter (and actress) Fay Wolf will celebrate the release of her new album “Spiders.” Jes Hudak of Bravo’s “Platinum Hit” fame will perform with a gaggle of guests including the show’s co-star Amber Ojeda, DJ Quickie Mart and Jen Hirsh. And Jamie Drake will continue her Thursday night residency.
