[Some tunes from a few artists we haven’t heard from in a while…]

Fun., “We Are Young ft. Janelle Monae” ”“ Nate Ruess (formerly of the Format) and his band fun. returns with a new single off their follow-up to “Aim and Ignite.” The song features R&B singer Janelle Monae, who they are currently supporting on tour. They’ll be playing the Troubadour on the Nov. 14 to promote their forthcoming Jeff Bhasker-produced sophomore album, which is slated for an early 2012 release.

Young Hunting, “Rust” ”“ “Into Yr Mind” was the last we heard from L.A. trio Young Hunting before they quickly left on a long string of tour dates. However, they’ve recently been back in the studio recording an LP’s worth of songs, and the beautiful new track “Rust” is a strong indication those days on the road have allowed them to hone their songwriting skills. Hari Rex’s vocals soothe and soar over shimmering guitars that go beyond their expected folk-gazing.

Cate Le Bon, “Puts Me To Work” ”“ Cate Le Bon, who sings in both English and Welsh, was initially known as the Welsh singer that perked Super Furry Animals’ Gruff Rhys’s ears up and eventually also known as a strong supporting act on their tour. After gaining her poise on stage as a solo artist and releasing her debut “Me Oh My” in 2009, she’ll be returning with a new record in 2012 via the Control Group label. “Puts Me to Work” offers a light melody sung in a part Nico, part Carla Bruni tone, but her lyrics are once again intriguingly heavy. Le Bon plays Oct. 18 at the Music Box, supporting St. Vincent.
