Video: Florence + The Machine, ‘Shake It Out’

by Seraphina Lotkhamnga on October 3, 2011

As Florence + the Machine offers a clip to accompany “Shake It Out,” the first official single off her sophomore album “Ceremonials,” those Kate Bush comparisons (Stevie Nicks gets mentioned too) don’t seem much of a stretch. Whether Florence Welch dislikes this label the media has slapped on her style, there’s no denying that this pop anthem still foreshadows a worthy album release. The music video does a nice job of capturing Welch’s essence. Combining elegance with mystique through masks and sparkles (and drinks that flow as much as her ostentatious wardrobe does), it’s almost as if she’s taken the idea from her “You’ve Got the Love” (a cover of a tune by The Source) video and turned the classiness up a few notches.
