Video premiere: Coyol, ‘Pharmacist’

Coyol, a duo who embodies both the grit of the old Southwest and the new Los Angeles, have released their first self-titled EP, and to celebrate they’ve made a video for the tune that started it all. Although Céleigh Chapman and John Isaac Watters have carefully been unveiling new songs (each accompanied by intriguing artwork from friends) off the record all summer, their first single “Pharmacist” still puts their juxtaposition in the best light. In the same vein, the clip above displays the capability to still have a simple life with California’s vast nature, even when the big city is just a drive away. Simple or complex, there is always an beautiful unrefined line in Coyol’s music and even if they seem to be “Stuck in rapid, rapid rewind” sometimes, the convergence of avant-garde and traditional melodies offer an open range rather than borderlines.
