Sunset Junction fallout (addendum): Echo Park rises

It won’t hold a Ferris wheel (and you might need a neck brace after seeing a show in the loft), but the cozy Origami Vinyl record store is transforming itself into a mini-Sunset Junction this weekend. In fact, in the aftermath of the cancellation of the annual festival, the Echo Park business community is doing a little bit of chest-beating (and commerce-building), grouping together many events under the umbrella Echo Park Rising.

Origami’s mini-festival lineup Pygmy Shrews, Vaz and Barrio Tiger (pictured) starting at 6 p.m. Saturday and Manhattan Murder Mystery, Dios, Keegan DeWitt and Madi Diaz.

The Echo and Echoplex lineups, of course, are anchored by big shows from bands who were scheduled to play the Junction – the Butthole Surfers and 400 Blows at the Echoplex on Saturday, and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Charles Bradley and Hands at the ‘Plex on Sunday. Those, along with the regularly scheduled shows featuring Dntel, the One AM Radio and Geotic on Saturday and Seapony at Part Time Punk on Sunday, both at the Echo.
