A few years back I wrote a short piece about an actress-turned-songwriter, her debut album and a lost guitar that was found again. The name on the album was Emma Burgess, but the person holding the guitar was Brandi Emma, who has returned to her given name and resumed making music, thanks to a bit fan-funding. Emma’s new “Photographic Memory” EP, a five-song collection of sweetly airy confessionals, was recorded in L.A. and Birmingham, England, with Tom Livemore. Maybe it’s me, but I like it when singer-songwriters let their tunes breathe.
