redsparowes

Red Sparowes’ widescreen instrumental rock demands the participation of your own vivid imagination, and the L.A. quintet’s third album, “The Fear is Excruciating, but Therein Lies the Answer,” is worth the excursion. Using swirling atmospherics, thundering bass and harmonized guitars, Red Sparowes draw the kind of massive soundscapes that make you part of the painting.

Also this weekend: From Peter Gabriel (Hollywood Bowl) and the Drive-By Truckers/Henry Clay People pairing (the Avalon) tonight, to Saturday’s FYF Fest Fan Appreciation Show in Pomona, to Sunday’s outing with Les Savy Fav at the Echoplex, it’s a busy weekend.
