Tonight in L.A.: Blank Blue, Spirit Animal, more

[Joel and Benji Madden celebrate their birthday today, on what apparently is a popular day to be born, judging from the number of reminders on my pesky my social networks. Can we just automate the huzzahs?]

djnobody-bnutIt’s not his birthday until Saturday, but tonight’s installment of Low End Theory at the Airliner is being called the DJ Nobody Drinking Contest. Nobody [pictured], as part of Blank Blue, is performing along with Free Moral Agents. … That show, along with many others, is making it a lively evening at small clubs: At the Silverlake Lounge, the Rhone Occupation, One Trick Pony and the Faraway Places fill the room with tunes; Spindrift gets all spacey at downtown’s Redwood Bar T the Silverlake Lounge; and the Bay Area’s gypsy music crazies the Fishtank Ensemble play at Bordello. … Party time: Spirit Animal brings its glib electro to Club NME at Spaceland; Cut Copy plays the second of two nights at the Music Box @ Fonda; Shwayze is at the House of Blues. … Speaking of multiple-night stands – Anna Egge does her second local gig, at Home restaurant in Silverlake; Sara Bareilles kicks off a run of three sold-out shows at the Hotel Cafe; and Akron/Family return to the Steve Allen Theater. … And rawk? There’s that too: Anavan at the Smell; Semi Precious Weapons and Killola at the Knitting Factory; Jr. Juggernaut and Ready the Jet at the Scene in Glendale. … Oh, and Beck has the $35-per-head benefit at the Echo, which should be sold out by now.
