pigeonjohn2Crazybusy night ahead — talk about being pulled in different directions. Darker My Love, whose “2” was one of my favorite albums of the year, plays the Echoplex; the Duke Spirit, whose “Neptune” also was one of my favorite albums of the year, performs at the Roxy. … And that’s only part of it: Ragsy celebrates the release of its (vinyl) LP, “Broken Bridge,” at the Hotel Cafe. … The always-fun Pigeon John [pictured], performing his first-ever acoustic set with a full band, has a great lineup for his Christmas party at the Knitting Factory, including Daedelus and J Dilla’s kid brother, Illa J (new album “Yancey Boys”). … There’s holiday merriment benefiting Toys for Tots at the Eagle Rock Center for the Arts, too, where a sealed toy (or a blanket) and 5 bucks gets you the Entrance Band, Blank Blue and the Underground Railroad to Candyland, with Keith Morris and Boom Bip Djing. … Cheers to People Under the Stairs, who celebrate their 10th anniversary with a show at the El Rey Theatre. … Thrice’s Dustin Kensrue joins Sparta frontman Jim Ward, Saves the Day’s Chris Conley and Switchfoot’s Jon Foreman at a benefit for Invisible Children at the Troubadour. … And at downtown’s Redwood Bar, the Gray Kid teams up with Free Moral Agents and the Broken Remotes for a benefit for the L.A. Food Bank; it’s $5 with two cans of food. … And: it’s the Moon Upstairs at Spaceland, and the Spider Problem at Echo Curio; and VoicesVoices at the Smell.
